AudioGO and Karin Slaughter Sign Exclusive Ten-Title Deal

Furthering a relationship begun in 2008, AudioGO and Karin Slaughter have signed an agreement granting the publisher exclusive North American audiobook rights to the bestselling thriller writer’s next ten titles. AudioGO previously released Slaughter’s Martin Misunderstood, which snagged a 2009 Audie Award nomination in the humor category. The publisher since has released Slaughter’s novels Criminal and Fallen, as well as The Unremarkable Heart and Other Stories, a collection of shorts.

Tara Gelsomino, AudioGO’s marketing manager, told LJ that the publisher suspects that the titles “will all be thrillers, to release one per year, as that’s Karin’s usual style and pace, but we’re certainly open to anything her creative mind may dream up next. Currently she publishes one new thriller each summer, around the end of June/beginning of July. Her previous books in the “Grant County” and “Will Trent” series have dovetailed over time and this year’s installment, Unseen, will again feature Will, as he goes undercover, and will bring back a fan favorite, Lena Adams, to the series.”

“In 2014,” Gelsomino said, Slaughter is “launching a new series Cop Town, also set in her home state of Georgia. Currently Karin’s also working on screenplays for the Grant County books, which are being produced as TV movies by Yellow Bird Productions (who also produced the Scandinavian films of Stieg Larsson’s trilogy) and is in negotiations with a prominent media conglomerate to create an episodic television series about her characters. Karin also has her Save the Libraries charity that’s raised considerable funds for public libraries throughout the country. We’re thrilled to be partnering with such a savvy, dynamic creator and have a lot of exciting plans for the collaboration, including a possible potential audio imprint under Karin’s creative direction.”

The author and publisher also are jointly investigating other ways they can work together on additional projects.
