A Season of Bests

It’s the season of bests, and in the holiday spirit I’ve been rounding up the top Prepub contenders appearing from January through April 2012: last week I presented 25 key fiction titles , and this week I’ve turned to nonfiction, offering 25 titles with additional information on media response and lots of links to pertinent sites. For more best lists, see LJ‘s smashing new Reviews site and note especially the best poetry list. There aren’t too many such lists out there, and with this one I aimed for something beyond core names that I know you’ll know and I’ve in fact cited in various roundups throughout the year. In highlighting ten exciting titles that fired my imagintion, I hoped to showcase the poets who are energizing the poetry world today and, as a librarian friend once asked, to find the keepers‚ those I believe we’ll be reading more and more as the years go by. Now, poetry may not seem like the biggest draw, but I’m pleased to report that the list had 500 hits in 24 hours (for one moment, at least, outshining graphic novels) and that folks kept the page open a long time, really reading. Please check out the list and let me know what you think.
