Tantorious is a semi-monthly podcast series featuring interviews with well-known authors, hosted by Allan Hoving and presented by Tantor Audio.
Thomas Emson is the author of several novels, including Maneater, Zombie Britannica, and the Vampire Trinity series; as well as two nonfiction books in Welsh. His novel Pariah has been described as an “energetic and slightly supernatural rendering of the Jack the Ripper story [that] is requisitely gruesome, darkly funny, and seriously creepy.” It is available in print, ebook, and audio editions from Tantor Media.
Excerpts from the audio interview:
Q: Why are people still obsessed with Jack the Ripper after all this time?
A: It’s because the case hasn’t been solved; that’s why it resonates so much. He wasn’t caught and nobody knows who he was; his ghost still wanders the streets of the East End. He represents the thing we fear most: not knowing, and he still echoes in our subconscious.
Q: What will you be listening for in Simon Vance’s narration?
A: I’m delighted that Simon Vance is reading Pariah. I’m looking forward to hearing his take on the book. I’m sure he will be creating an air of menace and dread, which I tried to create in writing the book.
