My Last Note for 2012

This will be the last Prepub Alert in 2012; there will be no newsletters on December 24 and December 31. January is shaping up to be a brisk month, though. Aside from my standard coverage, in this case of July 2013 titles, I’m working on a big spring and early summer mystery roundup, National Poetry Month preparation, our first ever Midwinter Galley Guide, and my final word on the best short stories, indie novels, and fiction in translation for 2012. Yes, I’m still reading—what are holidays for?—and given the scant coverage in these areas I want to get the lists exactly right. I’ll also be listing rising stars in all these areas–the authors you should watch. Anyone with recommendations, feel free to share!
