A year ago, Prepub Alert formally launched as a blog, complete with weekly alert. Immediately, we began thinking about how to upgrade it.
Since then, we’ve expanded coverage, added and subtracted features, and dropped the alert for a newsletter format. Now we’re relaunching with a new look and a renewed sense of purpose.
The hunt for good books of interest to librarians‚ and book folks in general‚ has led me farther afield, even as the publishing industry undergoes upheaval that will radically alter the landscape. At one time Prepub Alert featured 60 or 70 titles a month; now I sometimes cover that many titles in a week. Well, I always said I wanted to be a writer when I grew up.
Herewith the last burst of April 2012 titles.

I find your new format extremely confusing. There are so many places to click on that I lose track. The old format was much easier. Also, what happened to the back issues page? I used to click on about the first and fifteenth of every month and get all the latest books. No more. What happened to the Dec., 2010 issue? Very confusing…
Florence: The issue archives aren’t gone, we’ve just made some adjustments to the nav bar and that one temporarily fell off. It will return under Tools, but in the meantime you can get to it here: http://bit.ly/rYwo1q (NOTE: We’re a couple of issues behind in updating the archive.)
As for the overall format, what do you find confusing: the navigation within Prepub or for the overall Reviews site?
I don’t like the new format. The old blog could be read in my RSS reader. Now I have to click through to the LJ site to see the full posts. I only get headlines in the reader. Not nice!
Marian: That was an oversight, not a purposeful change in the RSS feed. It’s been set back to full feed. Thanks for pointing that out!
