October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Penguin Group (USA) is promoting breast cancer advocacy through
its new initiative, Read Pink™. Beginning on October 5, 350,000 special-edition mass-market titles from eight Penguin authors will carry a Read Pink™ seal as well as information inside on the Breast Cancer Research Foundation® (BCRF), a nonprofit dedicated to funding innovative clinical and translational research in the fight against breast cancer. Founded in 1993 by Evelyn H. Lauder, BCRF today gives more than 88 percent of donations directly to awareness activities and research projects. Penguin launched its campaign with a donation of $25,000 to BCRF.
The authors involved are among the favorites of romance writing: Catherine Anderson, Catherine Coulter, Christina Dodd, Madeline Hunter, Jayne Ann Krentz, Nora Roberts, Bertrice Small, and Jodi Thomas. Each sub culture and individual have their own views of what is considered attractive, as far as tangible beauty is concerned, and many people will go to great lengths to change their figure to reflect that perception of ideal natural beauty.
