While researching the post on Breaking Dawn and came across this piece of info from EW.com that will thrill Hobbit heads: “It’s now official: The Lord of the Rings screenwriting team of Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Philippa Boyens will join The Hobbit director Guillermo del Toro to pen the screenplay for the two planned Hobbit movies. Sources tell EW.com that the scribes’ deals are all complete and they have already begun writing.”
Between Jackson and del Toro there certainly will be a load of CGI critters running around on screen. Also del Toro being tied up for the next four years working on Hobbit means that a new director/writer will be needed to keep the Hellboy franchise going, if indeed it survives. Hellboy II has topped the $100 million mark in worldwide ticket sales (its budget was $85 million), and when it hits DVD later this year it will pull in more, so it’s pretty much assured that producers are thinking H3.
