March 1st brings the new zines coverage and the new home for magazine reviews. You’ll get quarterly recommendations for zine collections in the print magazine, and monthly reviews of new and redesigned
magazines on LibraryJournal.com. To access new coverage, mouse over the Reviews dropdown and choose Magazine/Zine.
Now, all the magazine reviews for a 4-month period will be collected together, with links at the top of the page to the most recently added reviews. The rationale is that magazines aren’t one-off deals—save Ty Pennington at Home, which Mr. Magazine called one of the hottest launches of 2007, although it seems it won’t begin regular publication until 2008—so we don’t have one-off reviews but a databaselike collection of recent new launches. Comments on the page format for Magazines are especially
welcome!
For a taste of zines, visit the new column in the March 1 issue (between Reference and Video) or online, and check out the site of Mildred Pierce, reviewed in LJ‘s inaugural column, to order one of these refreshing print publications for your library.
